Residents are being encouraged to help in the fight against animal cruelty by joining the 22 Crew’s fifth annual RSPCA Charity Ride on March 11.

The ride is hosted by the 22 Crew, a support club of the Veterans Motorcycle Club, and includes members from across Perth, including Rockingham and Kwinana. Warnbro resident Neville Green, who started the annual run, said since its inception the ride had raised more than $20,000.

“I’m really proud of how it has grown,” he said.

“The first year we raised about $1000. Last year we raised $9800.

“We started out with just 48 riders and now see more than 200 people attend the rides.”

Mr Green said it was a family-friendly event with cars also welcome to attend the ride, which will start in Malaga and finish at the Veterans Motorcycle Club clubhouse on Sylvia Street, Nollamara.

Riders will travel to the Scottalian Bindoon Hotel for a rest stop before returning to the clubhouse for a celebration that will include live music, food, raffles and auctions.

“It’s going to be a nice leisurely country ride,” Mr Green said.

Participants need to register their vehicle between 9am and 10.15am at Battery World in Malaga. The ride starts at 10.30am and the cost is $20 per bike or car. For more, information call 0427 864 481 or 0427 293 381.
