Party set to rock foreshore

The Rockingham Foreshore will be rocking to the sounds of summer next Tuesday, with young people aged 12-18 invited to the City of Rockingham’s Youth Beach Party 2018.

Starting at 2pm, the event will feature a freestyle rap performance from Marksman Lloyd, tunes from DJ Jeremy Tucker, giant water slides on the beach, and free slushies provided by the Monster Slush Truck, as well as a free sausage sizzle.

The headspace Rockingham youth reference group will be in attendance providing glitter face painting, while the crew from Don’t Drink and Drown will be running beach volleyball competitions, with two courts in action.

Mayor Barry Sammels said the City had been delighted with the attendance numbers at the first Youth Beach Party last year and was catering for up to 1500 people in 2018.

The Youth Beach Party is one of the City’s most popular annual events for young people,

“It is a great opportunity for our younger residents to connect, relax and enjoy a day just for them.

“City officers have reviewed and applied feedback from last year’s event and we are thrilled to offer local kids an even bigger, better event in 2018.”

Shaded areas will be provided to chill out on the beach, along with bean bags, free water slides, security, first aid, and youth support workers.

The City of Rockingham Youth Beach Party is part of the City’s Summer Series of alcohol-free events.

Young people will be required to have their bags checked on arrival and will pick up a wristband from City staff. The event is accessible to people with a disability.
