Opening Salvos of fundraising
Baldivis Salvation Army is calling on the community to dig deep and donate to the Red Shield Appeal.
The Red Shield Appeal is the Salvation Army's signature annual fundraising drive.
Salvation Army Baldivis officer, Lieutenant Ronald Stobie, said money raised helped fund a variety of social and community services, including emergency and disaster relief, drug and alcohol rehabilitation and refuges for women and children in crisis.
“It’s about helping the community wherever we can and giving back,” he said.
Baldivis Salvation Army raised $16,000 for the appeal last year and hopes to beat that this year.
This year, the Salvation Army will raise money through static point collections over two weeks.
From May 21 to 26, from 9am to 5pm, Salvation Army volunteers will be at Secret Harbour Shopping Centre and Stockland’s Baldivis and from May 28 to June 2, at Stargate Port Kennedy and Warnbro Shopping Centre. Schools will also hold a number of initiatives.
Baldivis Events will hold a family treasure hunt on June 2 to raise funds for the Red Shield Appeal.
Entry is $10 with a four-hour limit and the hunt is not a race. Details at http://baldivisnow.com.au/events/baldivis-treasure-hunt/.
