New hubs make recycling easier
The City of Kwinana is encouraging residents to recycle old household batteries, light bulbs, mobile phones and print cartridges by dropping items at two new recycling hubs at the Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre and Kwinana Marketplace.
Mayor Carol Adams said the two recycling hubs provided a drop-off and collection point for household items, which could not be placed in kerbside green or yellow-topped bins.
The hubs were funded in collaboration with the South Metropolitan Regional Council community advisory group, the Waste, Recycling, Education Network, and with the help of a community grant, and were created by the Fremantle Men’s Shed for distribution to SMRC members.
Ms Adams said the City was one of the first councils as part of the SMRC to install the hubs.
“Local residents can now easily recycle these household items which may have previously been sent to landfill,” she said.
