Medina newsagent joins City of Kwinana grant recipients

Sound Telegraph

A longstanding feature of the Kwinana community, Medina Newsagency, recently joined a number of local businesses to benefit from the City of Kwinana’s Local Commercial and Activity Centre Improvement Grants.

Seventeen businesses across Medina, Parmelia, Orelia and Calista recently received up to $3000 in funds to improve their shopfronts or stores.

Medina Newsagency owner Linda Collings said the upgrades to her store had made it more inviting, provided more security and also meant the store wasn’t exposed to the elements.

Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the Local Commercial and Activity Centre Improvement Grant was part of the City’s ongoing commitment to help local businesses flourish.

“These smaller neighbourhood shopping areas not only play a vital role in the local economy but also provide essential services to surrounding residents, often becoming the central ‘hub’ that defines the neighbourhood,” Ms Adams said.

“It is fantastic to see local businesses already making improvements thanks to this funding.”
