Mangles Bay opposition ‘misinformation’

Liberal MLC Phil Edman has hit back at what he claims is ‘misinformation’ over the Mangles Bay Marina proposal – stating that Point Peron would not be impacted by the project.

Independent candidate for the seat of Rockingham Craig Buchanan has recently joined forces with a number of One Nation candidates and have been vocal in their public opposition to the proposal.

However, Mr Edman has said that recent comments were not accurate.

“I am very disappointed that One Nation are lending their support to the abolition of a project that will create hundreds of jobs and increase tourism for our city,” he said.

“The simple fact is that there will be no marina at the Point Peron site. It will be built at Mangles Bay, on the eastern-side of the Garden Island Causeway.

“It must also be said that the land for the proposed marina is situated on degraded or cleared land, and that the project has already passed through vital stages of the environmental approval process, at both federal and State levels.”
