A local church has been badly damaged after a vehicle rammed through the front of the building before the driver fled.

Emergency services were called to the Blood of Salvation Ministries on Burslem Drive in Maddington at 11.20pm on Wednesday night, after a BMW ploughed through the front doors - completely destroying the church front.

The driver allegedly left the scene, and was found a short time later asleep behind the wheel about 1.45am on Attfield Street.
