Lollies for all as Santa spreads joy

As girls and boys across Kwinana wake up on Christmas morning, they will hear the beeps of a truck carrying Father Christmas, his friends, and lollies, with plenty of smiling faces waiting to greet them.

The famous Kwinana Christmas Lolly Run will take place again on Christmas morning, from 7.30am- noon. The lolly run has been a tradition in Kwinana for more than 50 years.

Volunteers will deliver bags of lollies to every street in Kwinana on Christmas morning to spread festive cheer to the young and young at heart.

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams, who regularly takes part in the Lolly Run, said the event was a long-standing tradition close to the hearts of the community.

“Long-time Kwinana residents look forward to the Lolly Run each year, and new residents will get a nice surprise on Christmas morning as they experience the rich community spirit Kwinana is known for,” she said.

“This year volunteers will deliver 12,000 lolly bags to households throughout Kwinana, using various modes of transport, from fire trucks to heritage cars.

“The Lolly Run is all about making people smile on Christmas Day.” Volunteers will include staff and councillors from the City of Kwinana, members of the Rotary Club of Kwinana, and the Mandogalup and Kwinana South Bushfire Brigades, as well as other community groups.
