These days a gold coin won’t buy you much but the Lions Club of Rockingham are turning that around this weekend.

As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the club is giving away 750 sausages during a sizzle at Bunnings Rockingham this Saturday for a gold coin.

All donations from the event will go towards Lucy Saw Women's Refuge Centre in Rockingham.

Lorraine Dunkling from Lions Club of Rockingham said the event was a great way to thank the community for their support over the last 50 years.

Without the support of the Rockingham community we would not have been able to support so many local, Lions and emergency projects,

she said.

“Thanks to the community we’ve been able to give away over $25,000 this year.

“After the 750 sausages we will be selling them for the normal price of $2.50 and $1.50 for a drink.”

The Lions Club of Rockingham will outside Bunnings Rockingham from 8am this Saturday.
