A Port Kennedy couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last month, attributing their adventurous lifestyle as the key to a long and happy marriage.

Frank and Myrna Robinson moved from South Africa to Port Kennedy in 2002.

They met in England, while Myrna was working as a telephonist and Frank a telephone engineer.

“I borrowed a little bit of change to call a boyfriend and then I chased him until I paid him back,” Myrna said.

“He liked hiking and cycling, so we did that together.

“I think why we’ve managed to stick together is because we’ve had an adventurous lifestyle, we’ve had so many varied situations that we’ve been in that’s what has kept us together.”

The happy couple married in their early 20s and have two children, Paul and Thalia, and four grandchildren.

“We all lived in different parts of South Africa at one stage and now we all live in Port Kennedy,” said Fred.

“It’s great having all the family just around the corner.”
