Kwinana Youth Advisory Council spread Christmas joy

Cecilia AllenSound Telegraph

Dressed as Mr and Mrs Santa Claus, the Kwinana Youth Advisory Council spread Christmas joy by handing out lolly bags to the community throughout the week.

The YAC visited the Kwinana Adventure Park and travelled to Perth on board the Mandurah to Perth train lines.

The YAC will also be volunteering to bag lollies as part of the annual Kwinana Christmas Lolly Run.

The idea came from 17-year-old Kwinana YAC member Cooper Tilbury, who gained unanimous support for the initiative at a recent YAC meeting.

I really wanted to make people smile this Christmas,

Cooper said.

City of Kwinana youth community development officer Arbie Pattiselanno said the initiative empowered the young people of Kwinana to participate in active citizenship, not only within their own community but the wider community for a greater impact and at the same time highlighted the positive contribution young people made in society.
