Kwinana is set to receive a boost from the State Government after a number of road safety initiatives gained approval today.

The City of Kwinana will be given $26,000 for a Speed Alert Mobile Trailer in a bid to increase road safety.

Police and Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts said the government was committed to making cycling safer and plans to implement a safe passing rule trial before the end of the year.

“Making cyclists highly visible is a positive step, particularly at the beginning and end of the day when the light is low,” she said.

“Last year, 62 people were killed on our roads in alcohol-related crashes, so it's encouraging to see local groups promoting road safety during community events where alcohol is being served.”
