Kwinana Cricket Club welcomes former Test skipper Hughes as number 1 ticket holder
Former Australian cricket captain Kim Hughes has been named Kwinana Cricket Club’s number one ticket holder for the 2018-19 season.
Hughes, the only West Australian to captain Australia on a full-time basis, will promote cricket in Kwinana and has indicated his willingness to visit the club during the season to address the playing group and work with junior coaches.
“The Kwinana Cricket Club is honoured to have somebody of Kim’s stature associated with our great club and are eagerly looking forward to his future visits,” the club said in a statement.
Hughes led Australia in 28 of his 70 Test matches, in which he scored 4415 runs at 37.41, in a playing career that spanned 1977-1984.
He also played 97 one day internationals and played for WA until 1989 before finishing his first-class career with a stint in South Africa with Natal.
The club begins pre-season training on August 19 and its junior registration day is on August 26 from 2pm-4pm at Fiona Harris Pavilion in Orelia.
