Heavy rain and strong winds didn’t dampen the Christmas spirit in Kwinana on Sunday night, with residents coming out in force to celebrate the annual community Christmas carols.

Brand MHR Madeleine King and Kwinana MLA Roger Cook hosted the carols, which were a big success with crowd favourite John Logan on guitar and vocals and newcomer Ellen Shenfield singing.

This year the wonderfully talented Calista Primary School Choir was joined by the WASO Crescendo Choir from Medina Primary School and North Parmelia Primary School with the children wowing the crowd with their singing and performing.

The event was rescheduled to the Darius Wells Library due to inclement weather, with about 250 people including Santa Claus singing along to new and old carols.

“While the rest of Perth cancelled their events last night Kwinana showed true Christmas spirit and cheer, braving the weather to make sure their community carols went ahead,” Ms King said.
