Kids all out for clean-up

Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School students were out in force last Thursday, collecting rubbish from the front of the school yard as part of Clean Up Australia Day.
Teacher Joe Visser said the whole school stepped outside the classrooms to do their bit for the environment.
“It’s a good opportunity for the students to participate in a national event and also to be aware of the impact of rubbish on the environment,” he said.
“We can control the rubbish in the school, but not what blows in from out there (behind the fence).
“It’s also good for the students to understand that and gives them an opportunity to keep rubbish to a minimum.”
Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School is aiming to be plastic waste-free, including in lunch boxes, by the end of next year.
