Initiative to grow Peel

An new-home initiative will start this month, aimed at attracting people who live interstate or overseas to the Peel region.
New homes sales consultant Cullum Ashton is doing his bit to put the region on the map by hosting a special weekend at a display home, 37 Heartwood Boulevard Baldivis.
Mr Ashton is teaming up with people from finance experts to real estate agents, to showcase the region to a local and wider audience.
It will also livestream the event to reach potential buyers from Melbourne, Sydney and Hong Kong, who had previously shown interest in the region.
Mr Ashton said affordability, the size of blocks available and living on the coast were three big factors which attracted people to the area.
“Over east it costs a fortune to buy a home or to find land to build one, especially close to the ocean or on a decent-sized property,” he said.
“Through this event we are hoping to turn people’s heads towards Perth and we are starting local, in this region of WA.
“The result could be massive long-term, the interest is really high.”
He said that in recent months he had seen a big jump in the number of people interested in building a home.
“In December there was maybe 16 to 20 groups who visited our display home, this month we have had 74,” he said.
“I am not sure why there has been such a spike in interest but it shows the region has the potential to really grow this year.”
The event will be held from 11am to 1pm on February 15 and 16.
