Exhibition helps raisedisability awareness

The City of Kwinana, in partnership with Chorus and in conjunction with the International Day of People with Disability, hosted a community artwork exhibition last week.

The exhibition was held at the Ken Jackman Hall in the Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre and showcased artwork by community members who had recently attended a series of local workshops.

There was a performance by dance troupes Tru Kolors and Dance Inclusion and musical performances by Catch Music.

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the event aimed to raise public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and the contributions they make to our community.

“The workshops not only created a platform for the participants to develop artworks, but also provided the space for laughter, creativity and self-expression,” she said.
