Cold front keeps SES busy

The first cold front of the year brought wild weather to the Rockingham area at the weekend as severe weather warnings were issued across the State’s South West.
According to a Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman, the Rockingham Kwinana State Emergency Service Unit received 19 call-outs. “Rockingham Kwinana SES responded to roof damage, a portable gazebo landing on a neighbour’s roof on Rockingham Beach Road, an uprooted tree in Warnbro and structural damage,” she said.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Ricus Lombard said the front brought about 43mm of rainfall to the Rockingham and Kwinana area.
“Quite a strong front came through — it was more windy than anything but there were stronger periods producing solid showers,” he said.
“A similar one-day event is predicted tomorrow but all should be fine again before the weekend.”
