More than 100 female cricketers from the Peel region will join forces at Hillman Cricket Club on Sunday, December 8 to raise money for the McGrath Foundation.

The inaugural event was the brainchild of Hillman Cricket Club female senior and junior coordinator Simone Peachey as well as the Peel Cricket Association.

About 10 women’s teams and four junior girls’ teams from the Peel region will participate on the day, raising vital funds for breast cancer patients.

“It’s simply a day of fun for a great cause,” she said.

“We want all of the community to come along to enjoy the fun day of cricket or all the other activities that come with the day.”

HCC president Carl Sanders said the cause was close to the club’s heart.

“We are raising valuable funds for care nurses to assist in this horrible disease that affects so many, with our club alone having two of our members going through breast cancer, so it is not only emotional for our club but also a big opportunity to play our part in assisting the Glen McGrath foundation,” he said.

“This is what life is about — getting people together for the common goal of assisting other humans and making a difference.

“The Peel region is very generous in their support as well as the Peel Cricket Association and major sponsor of the event, Beyond Bank, in making this happen.”

There will be something for the whole family with a bouncy castle, dunk tank, hair braiding, face painting, ice-cream van, slushies, and a barbecue, as well as prizes and giveaways.

While the event is the first of its kind, HCC, which are a part of the Peel Cricket Association, have previously raised more than $13,000 for the McGrath Foundation.
