Charity riders contribute to men’s shed workshop

Rockingham Community Shed for Men received a much-needed donation thanks to the Baldivis 1 Dayer Dog Ride committee.

The Baldivis 1 Dayer Black Dog Ride is a charity motorcycle ride held each May that aims to raise awareness and funds to promote suicide prevention.

Registration fees go directly to the Black Dog Foundation, which helps fund organisations such as Lifeline. The money raised locally through a raffle and donations is given to local groups the committee feels are essential in supporting mental health.

“This year we chose to support Rockingham Community Shed for Men to acknowledge the great work they do by supporting their members’ mental health,” ride co-ordinator Chris Glover said.

The men’s shed has used the contribution of $1528 to partly fund a new thickness planer machine for their workshop.

Rockingham Community Shed for Men chairman Les Clements said the machine would assist in woodworking projects for years to come.
