Rockingham celebrant Rebecca O’Sullivan said she was honoured to officiate the second same-sex marriage in Perth last month.

More than 50 guests — with some travelling as far as England — attended Jodie Needham and Jennifer Porter’s ceremony at Rottnest Island.

Same-sex marriage was legalised in Australia last month, but couples need to give one month’s notice, making the earliest normal marriage date yesterday.

The couple from Fremantle were granted early approval.

Ms O’Sullivan, who has performed more than 200 weddings, said it was a special and emotional day for all involved.

I was honoured to be part of their day,

she said.

“It was a beautiful wedding.”

Ms O’Sullivan has more than three same-sex marriage ceremonies booked for this year.

“I’d expect that number to increase,” she said.
