Bright Futures in line for honours

Kwinana’s Bright Futures Children’s Services has been recognised for its quality childcare education and support, being named a finalist in this year’s Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.

Educators and families nominated the service for the award, with Bright Futures staff preparing a submission that highlighted the ways they provide education and support.

Bright Futures Kwinana manager Andrea Harold said the staff felt privileged to be recognised, with 14 of her educators also nominated for Regional Educator of the Year.

“It gives us a fantastic feeling to know we are valued for what we do,” Ms Harold said.

City of Kwinana mayor Carol Adams said being named a finalist for Western and South Australia was a huge and well-earned honour for the service.

“One of the centrepieces of the work coming out of Bright Futures is an indigenous playgroup called Moorditj Kulungar for local Kwinana and Rockingham Aboriginal families and their children,” she said.

“This playgroup is a unique and special initiative that is only made possible through the hard work of Bright Futures staff.”

The service won the 2015 Family Day Care WA Service of the Year Award and is rated as an exceeding service by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority.

Award winners will be announced at the Family Day Care Australia national conference on the Gold Coast from September 6 to 8.
