The waters of Mangles Bay will come alive with racing yachts over the festive season as The Cruising Yacht Club hold their 62nd Cockburn Sound Regatta from December 26 to 30.

With the new foreshore development completed, organisers say the stage is set for some “fantastic ocean racing” .

The Kwinana Industries Council race to Rockingham will act as a feeder race before the main event, bringing the metro-based yachts to Rockingham on Boxing Day. Spectators on the beach and in the parks will have a grandstand view of all the action, which will continue over the following four days.

Cruisers will race in several separate divisions and there will be a multihull fleet to cater for catamarans and trimarans. Up to 50 boats are expected to attend this year.
