Bayside Barista staff drink in Gold Plate Award success

Bayside Barista in Safety Bay has etched its name among the finest venues in WA, with the much-loved cafe winning the 2017 Kleenheat Gold Plate Award for best coffee shop.

Since opening 10 months ago, Bayside Barista has garnered a reputation for some of the finest food and coffee, with the gold plate win at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday last week a testament to the shop’s success.

Owners Andrew and Kalina Franklin were delighted to pick up the award, with Mr Franklin thankful to his staff and the community for their fantastic support in such a short space of time.

“It was a total shock — we went in saying that being a finalist in best coffee shop was the win and the cherry on top would be to get the gold plate,” Mr Franklin said. “Words can’t describe how important my staff are.

“They are the backbone of why we have won this — from the chefs to our baristas; everyone has contributed. It’s an amazing feeling.”

Mr Franklin said the key to the success of the cafe, which is 100 per cent gluten free, was genuine customer service.

“It’s greeting them, knowing their names and knowing what they like and being a part of their lives as much as they have become part of ours,” he said.

“When are you genuine, it shows and that’s the appreciation people feel when they come here.”

Mr Franklin said the goal for the hardworking team was to continue to keep standards high.

“We want to continue to show our appreciation to the community and continue to do what we are doing; producing great coffee and great food,” he said.
