Arts festival makes a day out for all of the family

Adding to an impressive line-up of events at the this year’s Rockingham Beach Cup is the Community Arts Festival, which will feature buskers, street performers and artisans, and artists.

The foreshore will provide a scenic backdrop for the festival, which will be held at both Churchill and Bell parks.

Rotary Club of Palm Beach president Rick Dawson said festival would cater for the whole family.

“We’ve got almost 50 market stalls and 16 local food vendors,” he said.

“There will be a stage that will feature bands, including local musicians.

“There will also be a Motorplex screen, so all the action can be viewed.”

There will also be an art exhibition, sculptors, photographic display, wood turners, a blacksmith, pottery display and a kids carnival with rides.

“The aim is to lift the profile of Rockingham, support local business and then raise money for charity,” Mr Dawson said.

“It’s a great event and we’re really looking forward to the community coming along and supporting it.

“We’re already planning next year’s.”

The parks that provide a raised viewing area will also give festival-goers a view of the horse race.

The free Community Arts Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am until 5pm.
