Alleged staff-student altercation at Waikiki school

An alleged physical incident between a staff member and a student at Waikiki Primary School yesterday has resulted in an internal investigation, the Department of Education has told the Telegraph.

A Department spokeswoman said the matter had been referred to the Standards and Integrity Directorate, which is undertaking a risk assessment of the situation.

“Parents with children at public schools entrust us with the care of their children at school and can be assured that we take the job of keeping them safe extremely seriously - and take action when required,” she said

“For confidentiality reasons, at this time it would not be appropriate to provide any more detailed information about the investigation.

“Parents at the school have been informed that there was an alleged incident; and support was offered to any student who required it.”
