All about inclusion
The Aboriginal and State flags will now fly alongside the Australian flag at Rockingham Police Station, as part of a new reconciliation plan.
Aboriginal flags will be proudly flown at all stations around the State in a new WA Police initiative.
Rockingham Police Senior Sergeant Neville Beard said each station now had three flagpoles.
“This is a part of our Reconciliation Plan and an important step forward for the WA Police as it represents our commitment to supporting the Aboriginal community,” he said.
“It also recognises the contribution Aboriginal people have made while working for the WA Police with the history of some Aboriginal officers dating back over 100 years ago. This also represents the contribution of Aboriginal officers in supporting the WA community.
“There are several Aboriginal officers at the Rockingham Police Station and all of us are proud to display and work beside this flag.”
All flags are now on display out the front of the station on Whitfield Street.
