Surfboat: Gems have the secret for success

RICHARD LOWESound Telegraph

The second instalment of the Navy Australian Surf Rowers League Series was held at Scarborough beach on Sunday and despite the hot and dry conditions, competition was fierce.

Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club had two crews compete in the events — Secret Agents for the reserve men’s division and Secret Gems in the women’s division.

The Secret Agents had mixed results, but the Secret Gems — Megan Williams, Kelly Turner, Sharee Hart, Kylie Brennan and sweep Ross Onions — held strong and made it through to the finals.

After three heats, a semi-final and a final, they achieved a sixth overall out of the 17 women’s crews from across the State.

Secret Harbour boat crews are looking forward to the next navy surf boat carnival, with round three to be held at Port Bouvard this weekend.
