Cooloongup ute attack caught on dash cam may have led to stabbing

Video has emerged of a violent confrontation between a group of people on a busy Rockingham road that is believed to have been the catalyst for a stabbing.

In the dash cam footage two men can be seen running across the road near the intersection of Grange Drive and Ennis Avenue in Cooloongup and attacking a black Mitsubishi ute.

One man, dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans, uses a weapon to hit the vehicle as well as the driver while also screaming profanities. The other man dressed in a red jumper stands there and yells abuse.

The shocking incident, which lasts around thirty seconds and ends with the driver quickly reversing towards the car behind him, was uploaded to the WA Incident Alerts page on Saturday.

A WA police spokeswoman confirmed police were called out to a shopping centre car park on the corner of Grange Drive and Ennis Avenue in Cooloongup on Friday around 5.30pm after receiving reports a fight had broken out between five people.

When they arrived she said they found one person with a minor stab wound.

However, she said no formal complaint had been made and as a result they were not investigating the incident.
