Conditions just swell for club’s first competition

Sound Telegraph

The Surf Beach Boardriders’ first club competition of the year took place in perfect conditions last Sunday.

More than 100 competitors were treated to 1.5m swells and good banks with offshore winds, making for a superb competition.

Spokesman Doug Kitchingman said the club could not have asked for better conditions for the event.

Standouts on the day were April McPherson, in the grommet girls, Mako McPherson, in the grommet boys, and Harry McPherson (junior boys) who all took out their respective divisions.

Harry finished second in the opens and scored a 10 for a perfect 360 air.

Evergreen Shane Drew and Mick Jahn took the spoils, while there were wins for Kiera Pollock, Stewart Cramer and Lee Mcoven.

The club’s next competition will take place on Sunday, June 16, with a 7am start.

Kitchingman said the aim of the club competitions was to develop the potential of juniors and provide competitive action for members.
