A hairy good cause

Employees at Rockingham KMart Tyre and Auto Centre will do away with their shavers next month in support of the annual Movember initiative.

Beginning in 2003, Movember raises funds and awareness for men’s health by focussing on prostate cancer and mental health.

Five members of the KMart Tyre and Auto Centre team will let their facial hair grow for the entire month with proceeds donated to programs run directly by Movember, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and Beyondblue: the national depression initiative.

Employee Ashley Bennett said the initiative was about having fun and raising money for a good cause.

‘‘It’s a good cause and it’s all about raising people’s awareness,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s about having some fun with the team as well and bring us all together.

‘‘None of us have ever done it before, so it should be interesting.

‘‘We’re hoping to raise just as much as possible really—it all goes to charity so the more, the better.’’

People can support the team by going to the Movember website and searching for the KMart Krew.
