Narrogin’s YMCA building will host the Djeran Dardi Moorditj Youth Week opening ceremony tomorrow to launch WA Youth Week 2021.

The event, at Alby Park, will kickstart a much-anticipated WA Youth Week in Narrogin, featuring a range of events celebrating the positive contributions made by local youth.

The opening ceremony will feature a sausage sizzle and Blue Light Disco. Shire chief executive Dale Stewart said tomorrow’s event and the week of activities should have something for everyone aged 10-25.

“The opening ceremony will incorporate a number of fun activities for youth including artistic expression opportunities as well as a feature film,” Mr Stewart said. “It’s important for the community to respect and value the opinions of our youth and to ensure that they have an opportunity to be heard and listened to and engaged.

“As a Shire, we’ve adopted a community youth engagement strategy and that includes adopting a youth advisory group of young people. Youth Week for this year will be an important vehicle for us to encourage young people to come forward.”
