The first Pingelly Ute Muster in 17 years brought ute lovers together from across the State on the long weekend.

The event’s entertainment included whip-cracking and local musicians with free overnight camping while contestants showcased their utes.

Tourism liaison and event organiser Bianca Webb said her aim was to draw people into Pingelly.

The event was postponed from the end of March to September because of the coronavirus crisis.

“It was good to see a lot of outsiders come into Pingelly and spend some money in town and get everything moving again, especially after COVID,” Ms Webb said.

She said 90 per cent of the people who came to the event were from out of town.

“With the tourist group, our idea is to bring out-of-towners into town,” she said.

“To bring outsiders in and show off Pingelly.”

There were more than 30 people who entered various categories.

Entrants as young as 15 were among the winners.

“Seeing the face of a 15-year-old that entered his ute for the first time and seeing how happy and excited he was was just awesome,” Ms Webb said.

“The awesome support of friends, family and the participants really helped me pull together the day.”
