Gordon Spowart may have missed out on a first last month. But the six runners he had at Geraldton Turf Club delivered three second places and showed promise of possibly going one better at the Geraldton Cup.

Sakarya came second in race four with Troy Turner aboard, behind Summit Trail, ridden by Kyra Yuill and trained by Graeme Hammarquist.

Turner repeated the result in race six, this time aboard Mycroft, before Keshaw Dhurun crossed the line in second in race seven on Midnight Rocket with Dashing Image, another Spowart charge, in third ridden by Peter Knuckey.

Spowart, pictured, said Mycroft and Strong Heart would head to the cup, due to run on April 18. “They went well and pulled up well,” he said.

“All’s good.”
