Milking the cold in igloo

East Manjimup Primary School rounded out its celebration of Science Week and Book Week with a sustainable igloo sculpture.

Science Week, held in week 5, was celebrated with an Oceans to Icecaps theme and on the last day Year 1s Layne Muraru, Jordyn Brown and Harry Brown snuggled up in front of the school’s 846-milk bottle igloo.

As part of Science Week learning, students were encouraged to bring in empty milk bottles to be used for an igloo.

Deputy principal Bianca Prosser said they were aiming for 500 milk bottles to be donated.

“We met that target very quickly and in the end, we have 846 milk bottles towards our sculpture,” she said.

“This was a school-wide project that rounded out the decorations in the library.”

Book Week ended last week with the annual Book Fair, which allowed students to buy a wide variety of books.
