The Manjimup Art Gallery is the first WA stop for the Australian Geographic’s new photography exhibition.

Portrait of Australia: Stories through the lens of Australian Geographic relates Australian stories to highlight the many places and experiences awaiting discovery within Western Australia and the rest of the country.

Open to the public until August 22, the exhibition features photographic prints of various outback, bush and coast sites.

Manjimup shire president Paul Omodei said the exhibition spoke of beauty, resilience and the indomitable Australian spirit.

“It also demonstrates that despite these unprecedented times, our travel opportunities are far from limited,” he said.

The display is a result of a partnership between the National Museum of Australia and Australian Geographic. It also includes an integrated program for school children.

Exhibition themes incorporate local history, First Australians and geographical and environmental stories to encourage discussion across curriculum areas ranging from English and science to history and cross cultural awareness.
