Powerball winning ticket: Location of where WA $20 million ticket was sold revealed as Newsxpress Halls Head
One West Aussie’s life changed forever on Thursday evening upon scoring a staggering $20 million Powerball prize, and it has now been revealed where exactly the golden ticket was sold.
The WA winning ticket of an eye-watering $20 million was purchased south of Perth at Newsxpress Halls Head.
The lucky player was one of four Division One winners across the country that shared a gigantic $80 million jackpot.
After checking the winning numbers on the night of the draw, the owner of the winning ticket reached out to Lotterywest on Friday to confirm their incredible win.
The WA ticket was a Slikpik 18, purchased just hours before the draw on Thursday afternoon — right in the middle of a two-hour Lotterywest outage that affected both its website and mobile app.
During the unexpected disruption, hopeful players were temporarily unable to purchase tickets online or through the app.
“We’re currently experiencing issues with our services and are working to resolve them as soon as possible,” a pop up message on the website read.
“Last night’s $20 million win is fantastic news for this WA player, brightening up a very dreary Perth day,” Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said.
“This is a life-changing moment, and we can’t wait to welcome the winner into Lotterywest’s winners’ room and hear how they plan to enjoy their prize.”
Adding to the celebration, WA also scored a Division Two win worth more than $29,000, with the lucky ticket sold by Bridgetown Newsagency in the state’s South West.
WA continued its winning streak in division three, with 20 sandgropers amongst the 150 winners that each won a very handy $10,601.45.
The life changing numbers from draw #1529 were 9, 22, 23, 3, 13, 28, 32 and the all-important Powerball was 5.
“This win becomes WA’s third Division One Powerball win in 12 months after a trio of friends from Perth’s eastern suburbs won a $30 million Powerball prize in April, and 15 workmates shared a $30 million Powerball prize last October,” Ms Wender said.
Thursday’s $80 million jackpot was one of the biggest of the year, ranking as the second-highest Powerball prize offered up in 2025, just behind the $100 million draw in June.
The last time an $80 million jackpot was up for grabs was back in May 2022, making Thursday night’s draw a rare and exciting event for Lotto players across the country.
