An investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found in a cabin on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Emergency services made the grisly discovery about 11:30am on Saturday after reports the 34-year-old woman had been found in a cabin in Bulga Forest.

A crime scene was established at the cabin on Pole Dump Forest Rd.

A second crime scene was also established about 3km west of the cabin along Old Blue Knob Rd, in relation to a silver Holden Rodeo that was located just off the roadway.

A 38-year-old man, who was known to the woman, was spoken to by police at the scene and is assisting with their investigation.
