Katanning’s Anzac Day events on Saturday will start with a march to the town’s war memorial at Prosser Park and continue with the traditional dawn service and gunfire breakfast.

It’s a ritual which will be matched by many towns across the Great Southern as communities remember the sacrifices made by their friends and relatives — both past and present — in conflict zones across the world.

Last year’s service in Katanning drew 400 people and more than 20 wreaths were laid by veterans, those currently serving and representatives of the shire, emergency services and youth groups.

It was also the first time a navy representative had attended to lay a wreath on behalf of the navy and animals.

This is where and when the community will be marking April 25.
