Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma were held to a three all draw against Noranda FC on Saturday to leave their promotion hopes in the balance.

Coming off a disappointing performance against Yanchep last round, they needed to turn their fortunes around quickly to keep their hopes of promotion alive.

Unfortunately for the second week in a row they got off to a sluggish start and Noranda pounced to score within the opening 10 minutes.

However, conceding the opener seemed to spark them into life as they grew into the match.

Captain Lachlan Gray went close with a curling effort as they peppered the opposition goals.

They found an equalizer from a corner which found William Cable who powered a header into the net as the Reds were in the ascendancy.

They continued to look dangerous on the cross and Wiehan De Bruyn fired one in that went through everyone and was unlucky not to have someone on the end of it to tap it home.

Tom Mitic was then brought down just inside the box and rolled his penalty home to take the lead.

Despite the Reds’ dominance, Noranda were still looking dangerous on the break and were unlucky when their striker rolled one wide of the post.

The Reds took a 2-1 lead into halftime but for the second time this season they let it slip against Noranda as they scored two goals to one in the second half to come away with a point.

It is the second time these teams have played out a high-scoring draw this season after a four-all encounter earlier in the year.

The point leaves them eight points adrift of second place with some results still to filter in.

In the reserves the Reds were soundly beaten 4-1 as they fell away badly in the second half to leave them 10th on the ladder.

La Fiamma will next face Northern City FC who sit one spot below them in seventh in an important away clash where the Reds will at least have to come away with a point.
