Shine Lawyers appeals for information on alleged child abuse claims linked to Potter’s House Geraldton

One of Australia’s biggest law firms is appealing for former members of The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship Church in Geraldton to come forward as part of an investigation into claims of alleged child abuse during the late 1990s. Shine Lawyers is seeking information that could help corroborate the experiences of its clients connected to the Geraldton branch, including, but not limited to, youth camps and other church-related activities from that period. A Shine Lawyers spokesperson said the information from the community could be vital in helping uncover the full picture. “Information from witnesses can help us to either confirm what we already know or reveal information we are missing,” the spokesperson said. “In past matters, we’ve seen firsthand how public appeals like this can lead to dozens of people coming forward, sometimes to share their own experiences, and other times to help support someone else’s.” The firm said it had already heard from some members of the community and was grateful for their willingness to assist. “We encourage anyone else with information, even if unsure whether it’s helpful, to get in touch — you might hold a piece of the puzzle that makes a real difference for someone else,” the spokesperson said. Shine Lawyers said anyone who reached out would be met with respect, compassion and confidentiality. Founded in the United States and established in Geraldton in 1981, the Potter’s House church grew rapidly and has remained active in the local community, known for its outreach programs and events such as Polyfest, described as a Polynesian festival.
