Mobile coverage across Geraldton and the wider Mid West has received a boost, with Telstra switching on a new 4G/5G mobile base station in Narngulu.

The new site is expected to significantly improve connectivity for both residents and businesses in the region.

Telstra regional engagement manager Eva Colic said the tower would help address long-standing issues with reception in parts of the Mid West.

“We know the community’s been looking forward to this new mobile site and I’m pleased to say we’ve completed construction and been able to bring this site on-air,” she said.

“Having mobile connectivity is becoming increasingly important in our everyday lives.

“This new site not only helps reduce a mobile black spot in this area, but it will also improve capacity and mobile coverage and provide additional triple zero connectivity for users on other mobile networks in times of emergency.”

Ms Colic said the upgrade was part of Telstra’s ongoing investment in regional infrastructure.

“Over the past seven years, Telstra invested $11.8 billion in our mobile network nationally, with $4.3b of this invested in our regional mobile network,” she said.
