Multiple charges: Police allege Geraldton crash accused was drink driving

Police will allege a Northern Gully man charged over a serious head-on crash in Karloo in February this year was drink driving at the time.

The crash left five people, including two children, seriously injured.

Police allege the crash occurred when the man’s Kia Cerato crossed to the wrong side of Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road and collided with a Holden Captiva that was travelling westbound, about 5.50pm on February 16

All five people in the Holden Captiva received serious injuries that required urgent medical treatment.

Among them were two woman and a man aged in their 20s, and a boy and girl who were both aged under 12.

Police will allege the 31-year-old driver of the Kia Cerato recorded a blood alcohol level in excess of the legal limit of 0.05 after the crash.

He has been charged with three counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, two counts of dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm, and drink driving.

He is due to face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on April 16.
