Geraldton’s Batavia Sprint: Tash Faithfull wins $125k race on Supersession, with six wins in two days

Jockey Tash Faithfull won the Geraldton Toyota Batavia Sprint on Sunday afternoon, leading six-year-old gelding Supersession past the post in the $125,000 race of the day. Storming home in race seven from ninth place at the 400m mark, Faithfull guided the 13-1 chance home by a quarter-length — ahead of On The Mark and Just Saint James a little further back — in the 1200m sprint, to secure the $68,500 purse for trainer Adam Durrant. Faithfull had a busy weekend, with six wins intwo days — four at Albany on Saturday, and two at Geraldton on Sunday — including a Road to Ascot win on Wineaclocksumwhere at home in Albany for mum Samantha Faithfull. Race six at Geraldton was another Road To Ascot, won by Austin Galati who was held to a single win on Sunday after a few highly successful campaigns at Utakarra this season. Galati rode five-year-old gelding Bolta for the Tony Scally stable, holding back to the 400 before a comfortable finish ahead of Leonardo Da Grey and Gold Keeper to win the regional championship heat. Trainer Sean Rains and jockey Kyra Yuill teamed up for wins in races one and four, with Yuill bringing Be My Belle home in front of Truly Gallant and Blitz in the first, and riding Battle on Battler home ahead of Amarlie Miss and Scurgeofthewest in the fourth. Kidding Me edged ahead with Faithfull on board in the second over Chinese Dentist and Dixie Princess. The Martin yard had a win in race three, with Zephen Johnston-Porter riding favourite Cantilever ahead of Truly Supreme and Black Cilla. Rocky Cheung rode his first of two winners, with Bentley Beau in race five, paying an $8400 trifecta along with Mystical Man and Endless Joy. Durrant went on to secure his double in the last race of the day, with Chueng on board De Grandhomme winning by a nose from Mangifera, and Flying Forever in third.
