With thousands expected to gather to witness Saturday night’s drone show, the City of Greater Geraldton has advised of public area restrictions and closures ahead of the spectacle.

This will allow for the set-up and delivery of the Yamatji Southern Regional Council’s NAIDOC celebration drone show on October 18.

With more than 10,000 people expected throughout the day and into the evening climax, the celebration promises an unforgettable evening of culture, community and spectacle.

The Esplanade will be closed to the public from 9am–10pm, the Francis Street boat ramp will be closed from 4.30-8pm and the car parking bays in the Francis Street carpark adjacent to the TS Morrow will be closed from 3.30-8pm.

The free, family-friendly event will showcase the richness of the Yamatji culture through music, dance, food and storytelling. The main event of the evening will be a Dreamtime drone show at sunset, when hundreds of drones will light up the sky over Champion Bay bringing Yamatji Dreamtime stories to life in a stunning display of light and sound.

An exclusion zone will also be in place on the water from 6.30-7.30pm.

Attendees are requested to exercise caution and obey all warning signs and directions from authorised traffic management personnel.

Boats and RVs will still be able to park in the designated RV and boat trailer bays located behind the Mid West Ports Authority offices, and disabled parking bays adjacent to the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre will remain accessible for permit holders.

The alcohol-free event starts at 4.30pm and finishes at 7.30pm at Stow Gardens.
