Baldivis Secondary College and Makybe Rise Primary School students cook up a storm for people in need

Students from Baldivis junior and senior schools have banded together to cook for people experiencing financial hardship. Ten years 5 and 6 students from Makybe Rise Primary School recently joined Baldivis Secondary College years 10 and 11 hospitality students in the college kitchen. The budding cooks made a variety of meals and sweet treats using ingredients donated by local not-for-profit organisation Happy Pantry. The meals were then donated to Happy Pantry and Friends of the Beach BBQ, which provide meals to people in need. Makybe Rise deputy principal Mel Garwood said feedback from students included that they were happy to give an opportunity for those less fortunate to enjoy their cooking and have a wholesome meal. “Students enjoyed working together with the older students and cooking meals for the homeless,” she said.
