Driver charged with drink, drug driving after horror crash

A Mercedes driver has been charged with drink and drug driving following a horror crash in Brisbane's outer suburbs that left five people fighting for life in hospital.

Police allege the 28-year-old man was behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz AMG when it collided Toyota LandCruiser at Forest Lake shortly after 10pm on June 8.

The Forest Lake man and his three passengers – two 22-year-old men and a 50-year-old woman – were all rushed to hospital following the horror crash.

The driver and sole occupant of the LandCruiser, a 52-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

In a statement, Queensland Police said on Sunday they charged the Mercedes driver with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm.

The 28-year-old was also charged with low-range drink driving and driving with a relevant drug in his system.

He was issued a court attendance notice to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 9.
