West Perth scrub fire: Emergency services extinguish blaze that threatened nearby buildings and motorists

A scrub fire in Perth’s west came dangerously close to igniting buildings along a major road.
Emergency services responded to calls of a fire burning near Graham Farmer Freeway in West Leederville at about 11.39am on Thursday.
Fireys from Vincent and Daglish fire stations were called out to the fire burning greenery along the busy road amid a lunchtime traffic rush.

The left lane was closed off as fireys quelled the flame, congesting the already banked up roads as the blaze threatened motorists.
DFES said the flame was extinguished before it managed to reach any of the nearby buildings by 12.13pm, with no property damage reported.
The cause of the scrub fire is considered to be accidental. WA Police were at the scene.
