Police are investigating a violent armed carjacking at the Forrestfield shopping centre car park last night.

A 40-year-old man was sitting in his parked white Mitsubishi Outlander near Hale Road, when another man approached him about 11pm.

The man, while armed with a knife, attempted to throw out the victim from the vehicle and the pair became involved in a physical struggle.

Police said members of the public came to the victim’s assistance and the attacker fled.

The male victim suffered a laceration and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by paramedics with non-life threatening injuries.
