East Rockingham motorcycle crash: Two men dead after horror crash near Patterson Road and Ennis Avenue

Two young men have died after a horror double fatal motorcycle crash south of Perth. The pair were riding together near the Patterson Road and Ennis Avenue intersection in East Rockingham when they lost control just before 2.25am on Thursday. The crash came moments after the motorcycle had been spotted travelling at speed past a police patrol car further along Ennis Avenue. While police have confirmed they did not attempt to intercept or chase the motorcycle using lights or sirens — that fact did spark an investigation by WA Police’s Internal Affairs Unit. A member of the public found the injured riders and attempted to provide first aid to one of the men before Rockingham Police and St John WA paramedics arrived at the scene. Sadly, neither man could be saved. It’s understood one of the men was the owner of the motorcycle. The first police car to arrive was not the same patrol car the men had ridden past prior to the crash. Motorists were urged to avoid the area on Thursday morning and to consider using Mandurah Road for their morning commute. Patterson Road remained closed northbound between Pedlar Circuit and Ward Road for much of the morning. Major crash investigation section officers spent the morning examining the scene to investigate the circumstance of the crash.
